Prime Minister Narendra Modi Receives Warm Diaspora Welcome in the Netherlands Amid High-Level Diplomatic Engagements
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a vibrant welcome from the Indian diaspora in The Hague during his Netherlands visit, marked by cultural performances and high-level diplomatic meetings. Discussions with Dutch leadership focused on semiconductors, clean energy, water management, trade expansion, and the India–EU Free Trade Agreement. The visit follows engagements in the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi landed at Amsterdam Airport, where he was received by senior Dutch officials, including Rear Admiral Ludger Brummelaar, Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen, and Indian Ambassador Kumar Tuhin. The formal reception underscored the diplomatic significance of the visit and the strengthening ties between the two nations.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi stated that he would hold discussions with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and would also make a courtesy call on King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. The engagements are expected to focus on expanding bilateral cooperation in key strategic sectors, including semiconductors, clean energy, water management, and trade. These discussions are also closely linked to progress on the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement, which remains a central pillar of economic engagement.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of meaningful engagement with the Indian diaspora, highlighting that their contribution should extend beyond symbolic recognition to active and lived participation in strengthening bilateral relations.
Prior to his arrival in the Netherlands, Prime Minister Modi concluded his visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he met President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The discussions focused on regional stability in West Asia and broader geopolitical developments. The Prime Minister also praised the leadership of the United Arab Emirates and expressed gratitude for the continued support extended to the Indian community residing there.
The successive diplomatic engagements across the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands underscore India’s expanding global outreach, with a strong emphasis on strategic partnerships, diaspora engagement, and multilateral economic cooperation.
